Collages have been delivered to both Primary and Secondary Schools. At both levels the basic techniques remain the same, however the subjects and influences need to be appropriate for the age group. In Primary Schools the subject usually involves their school or the area in which they live. with Secondary Schools the influence tends to be ideas-based for example, speed, height, life etc. Other themes are appropriate for all ages.
Before starting to use the fabric, decide on the size of the finished collage, discuss the topic and allow the group to sketch some basic ideas. It is sometimes appropriate to take photographs. Put the sketches/photographs together to form a simple foundation point from which to work. Sometimes it is relevant for each pupil to make their own pieces, joining them together before displaying. |
